It occurs to me that I've lost over 10% of my body mass. I wonder how much of that was waste vs work? And of the waste, how was that distributed between solid, liquid, gas, and heat? And how much mass have I lost thinking about this? I need a joint.

So we are enjoying the "bennies" of liquor privatization in Washington state as of June--liquor prices have generally gone up thanks to extra taxes. To counter this, I've started shopping at a liquor superstore with lower prices, but it is inconvenient to get to. Meanwhile, a nice Asian couple re-opened the formerly state-owned liquor store a few blocks from my house, and I would never have considered paying those prices, but this local store has just started selling growlers of my favorite microbrews, the devils, and I've been drawn inside like a moth to a flame. Pure genius.


What I consumed yesterday:
● McDonald's chipotle bbq chicken snack wrap
● 10 McDonald's french fries (no dressing)
● 5.5 oz V8 juice
● 40 oz Mac & Jack's ale
● Papa John's Papa's Garden Salad w/ fat-free Italian dressing & added chicken (no tomatoes or croutons)
● 2 slices Tillamook pepper jack cheese & bacon
● Coffee w/ 4 tbsp whiskey
● 12 oz Budweiser Select
● 14.5 oz Del Monte Green Beans

Intermittent Fasting -- 207 lbs (-22)

No calories until 6:30pm last night. I felt like a hunter/gatherer of yore, spending all day tracking down solutions to wily problems and then feasting on my spoils after sundown.

Despite my intent to avoid particular diets, I've since learned this skipping breakfast thing is a part of "intermittent fasting". You can read more about IF here and skipping breakfast here.

● .14 cup Old Overholt rye (all gone)
● .32 cup Evan Williams whiskey
● 1.5 cups of Columbia Crest Amitage red wine

How discouraging--I'm up where I was at the end of last week. One of the reasons I committed to a one year diet is that I would only have to lose 1 pound per week to meet my 49 lb goal. As long as I lost at least a pound per week, I wouldn't get discouraged. Hopefully, I can recoup this week.

Interesting note that vegetable soup with whiskey tastes so awful, while spicy cup of noodles with whiskey tastes good. The former is a better appetite suppressant, though. I should have had that last night.

If you had nothing better to do, you might have noticed that always start my day with liquids. My biggest weight loss strategy is to avoid eating solids as long as possible. I find that the earlier I start eating solids, the hungrier for solids I get, and the more I eat throughout the day.

Well, things left my body more than usual yesterday, so I went a little crazy. Unfortunately, the over-indulgence was wasted on Goldfish crackers.

Amidst the chaos, I ate 3 fortune cookies, one of which said "You can work both alone or with others." That really cleared things up for me. But I've had worse. My first year in college, I went to Niagara Falls with a bunch of friends, and was told by a fortune-teller arcade machine that I would never be rich and famous, but I would be well respected by people in my field.

Tastes Like Beef Burgundy

Here is my secret recipe for Cup 'O Noodle broth, which acts as a tremendous appetite suppressant:

1. Start with one 2.5 oz Nissin Cup Noodles Spicy Chile Chicken

2. Add hot water to the top of noodle cup

3. Wait for a couple of minutes (do not stir)

4. Scrape the meat and vegetables off the top of the noodles into a mug

5. Stir then drain the broth into the mug, leaving the noodles in the cup

6. Add 1 tablespoon of fiber into the mug

7. Add 3-4 tablespoons of whiskey into the mug

8. Drink and enjoy!

No whiskey a couple of days ago and got a cold sore yesterday. It's uncanny (but a bit bottley).

Not Sleeping Less -- 216 lbs (-13) [2X]

I really hoped I'd be sleeping less on this diet, but while I am less groggy / more alert, my sleep pattern hasn't really changed. In the past, I've found that I only sleep less when I'm deeply engaged in a personal project, and eating less doesn't appear to affect that one way or the other. If anything, I'm not in any hurry to wake up and feel hungry. On the bright side, I think am being more productive when I am awake—spending less time in the bathroom for sure.
